Gateway Transfer Station Public Art Project
Keeping the Rhythm
By Eric Schreffler
The Arts Council of Wayne County (ACWC) and the award winning airbrush artist Eric Schreffler have partnered to create the Gateway Transfer Station Art Panel Project. Conceived by architect David Gall, the panels are not only sound dampeners but works of public art.
Building on Wayne County’s rich music traditions and its participation with the North Carolina Arts Council’s African American Music Trails of Eastern North Carolina,Schreffler used his own love of music to make the high-energy panels that vibrate with rhythm.
All materials used for this project were proudly made in the USA. Many thanks to ACWC Operations Director Traycee Williams, for assembling all of the panels.
