Our Building

The Arts Council of Wayne County is located in historic downtown Goldsboro, at the corner of North John and East Walnut Streets.  We like to say we're the "heART" of downtown.

Built around 1901, our beautiful building retains many of its original features including tin ceilings, windows, and woodwork. In 2011, the ACWC worked with the Downtown Goldsboro Development Corporation, the City of Goldsboro, and property owners Jeff and Cindy Darwin, to pursue a North Carolina Main Street Solutions Grant. In May of that year, we received word that we had been awarded $200,000 to renovate the first floor galleries and install an elevator.

The ACWC facility includes two galleries and Art Market, staff offices, music classrooms, a large visual art classroom, and eight artist studios.

The ACWC offers its Main Gallery, TA Loving Gallery, and classrooms for rent.

Artist Studio Rental Program:

In 2011, the ACWC began a wonderful new Artist Studio Rental Program. Originally, we planned to rent six studios but the program has been so popular, we decided to reconfigure some office and storage space to add three additional studios.  Our newest studio will be available starting April 15, 2015.  Call 919-736-3300 for more information.

At $200 per month, studio spaces are rented in twelve month increments. Artists have access to their studio spaces 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Most studios are equipped with a sink. Studio rent includes utilities, and access to WIFI. All studios have two windows giving lots of natural light.
