 To register for classes or workshops: Call the Arts Council of Wayne County (919)736-3300 or e-mail This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..  Payment is due at the time of registration.  We will gladly take your credit card or Visa debit card payment over the phone. You are welcome to mail your payment to the Arts Council of Wayne County, 102 N John Street, Goldsboro, NC  27530.  You may also stop by the Arts Council  with a check or cash for payment.  Payments must be mailed or dropped-off at the Arts Council within 24 hours of registration.

Cancellation policy: The Arts Council is unable to give refunds for cancellations less than 7 business days before the start date of any class or workshop. If the Arts Council must cancel a class, your registration fee will be refunded. Thanks for your cooperation with these policies!

 ***PLEASE NOTE CANCELLATION FOR SUMMER ART CAMP MUST BE MADE 15 CALENDAR DAYS OR MORE PRIOR TO THE START OF A CLASS. 

The Arts Council of Wayne County is dedicated to providing a variety of art and music classes for all ages. We are constantly looking for new ideas for classes and new instructors.

Instructors at the Arts Council are passionate and experienced. Most of our classes are for all skill levels, so the ability to be patient is crucial.

Instructors are paid by the hour, and are not expected to provide supplies (though are reimbursed if they do).

Instructor: Marie Ashley

Cost: $20 per lesson, paid by the month

About the Instructor:

Marie Ashley is an Adjunct Instructor of Voice at the University of Mount Olive.  She has been teaching private voice lessons since 1997 and has taught at all levels of classical voice, opera and musical theater.  Marie would like to share her talent with local high school, college-aged or adult students.  She will teach selected middle school student with developed skills.

The Arts Council of Wayne County is partnering with Cliffs of the Neuse State Park.

We will be providing art camps and classes on site at Cliffs of the Nuese. Students have the opportunity to submit 3 works of art from any of these classes to be entered into a contest to have their art on a calender and displayed in a show. Click HERE for full instructions.

Instructor: Matt Sharp

About the Instructor:

 Matt is a native of Goldsboro with a passion for the arts. He is a musician with fifteen-years of experience in the field. From writing to collaborating, touring to teaching, he has a wide range of talents. Matt has traveled internationally as well as locally to share his gift of music on professional and personal levels. Over the years he has been a studio musician recording on over 7 albums. Currently, he serves as a musician for former American Idol contestant Majesty Rose and many other various aspiring artists. Apart from teaching and his music career, he enjoys spending time with his wife and hiking.

Instructor: Chris Ellis

Cost: $20 per lesson, paid by the month

About the Instructor:

In addition to teaching and conducting with the Tar River Strings, Chris teaches violin privately in Greenville, Goldsboro and Wilson.  He also conducts the Beaufort County Community Orchestra, a community orchestra in Washington, NC, and teaches applied violin/viola at Coastal Carolina Community College in Jacksonville.    

Chris earned a Bachelor of Music degree at East Carolina University studying with Paul Topper.  He later earned a Master of Music degree at Florida State University studying with Karen Clarke and Gary Kosloski.  He was a member of the Tallahassee Symphony Orchestra and has performed with other orchestras including the Southwest Florida Symphony, the Columbus Symphony Orchestra of Georgia, and the Richmond Symphony Orchestra. He is currently a member of the Tar River Symphony Orchestra and has been the concertmaster of the Barton College/Wilson Symphony since 2002.
