Music and Voice Lessons

The Arts Council offers a variety of music lessons at affordable rates.  We also offer voice Lessons.

Marshall Foster- Piano

 

Adults & Children, private half hour and hour classes.

Monday thru Friday

Instructor: Marshall Foster

Cost: $20 per 30 minute lesson, paid by the month

 

About the Instructor:

Marshall Foster, a native of Wilmington, NC, graduated from East Carolina University majoring in organ with a minor in piano. While in Wilmington he also played violin with the UNCW Community Orchestra. Shortly after finishing school he moved to New York City, where for 30 years worked in various arts organizations and as an organist. Marshall returned to North Carolina in 2010 to accept the position of Organist-Choirmaster at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Goldsboro. Besides his extensive work with children & adult choirs, he has taught piano in Wilmington, New York and Goldsboro.

Chris Ellis- Violin, Cello, Viola

Instructor: Chris Ellis

Cost: $20 per lesson, paid by the month

 

About the Instructor:

 

In addition to teaching and conducting with the Tar River Strings, Chris teaches violin privately in Greenville, Goldsboro and Wilson.  He also conducts the Beaufort County Community Orchestra, a community orchestra in Washington, NC, and teaches applied violin/viola at Coastal Carolina Community College in Jacksonville.    

 

Chris earned a Bachelor of Music degree at East Carolina University studying with Paul Topper.  He later earned a Master of Music degree at Florida State University studying with Karen Clarke and Gary Kosloski.  He was a member of the Tallahassee Symphony Orchestra and has performed with other orchestras including the Southwest Florida Symphony, the Columbus Symphony Orchestra of Georgia, and the Richmond Symphony Orchestra. He is currently a member of the Tar River Symphony Orchestra and has been the concertmaster of the Barton College/Wilson Symphony since 2002.

Bri Worek - Voice

About the Instructor:

Bri is a native of Pittsburgh and has made Goldsboro her home since 2017. She is a graduate of West Virginia University, earning a master’s degree in speech-language pathology in 2011. A seasoned performer and multi-instrumentalist since her teens, Bri has performed in various orchestras and choral ensembles along the East Coast. She has spent the last eight years as a speech therapist focused on geriatric care, including rehabilitation of cognitive, swallowing, and communication disorders. Bri is excited to bring her education in voice studies and music to The Arts Council of Wayne County. Other interests include performing at local open mic nights, fitness and nutrition, and spending time with her cat, Miles Davis.
