
Meet Lynn Grissett
Lynn Grissett is an accomplished trumpeter and educator with a strong foundation in jazz performance. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Music Performance (Jazz) from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and a Master’s in Music Performance (Jazz) from North Carolina Central University, where he studied under renowned saxophonist Branford Marsalis.
Throughout his career, Grissett has performed with an impressive roster of artists across genres, including Ellis, Branford, and Delfeayo Marsalis, Maceo Parker, Larry Graham, Nile Rodgers, Trombone Shorty, Marcus Anderson, Max Weinberg, the late Dewey Redman, Winard Harper, Stevie Wonder, Jennifer Hudson, Ledisi, Judith Hill, Cyrus Chestnut, Ocie Davis, Kobie Watkins, Terri Lyne Carrington, Liv Warfield, Andy Allo, and many others.
Most notably, he was a member of the New Power Generation Hornz, the horn section for Prince’s legendary New Power Generation band. Grissett has graced stages at some of the world’s most prestigious music events, including the Montreux Jazz Festival, North Sea Jazz Festival, Essence Festival, and appearances on national television programs like Jimmy Kimmel Live! and The Arsenio Hall Show.
